Super Pop-Up Shop Pops Up at Alameda Towne Centre!
Grand Opening: Sunday, November 22 from noon – 5 p.m.
Super Pop-Up Shop moves in to the newly remodeled Alameda Towne Center for a limited time this holiday season! From November 22 through December 6, 2009, this unique storefront will present an exciting array of entertaining interactive projects by MFA students in fine arts, design and writing at California College of the Arts (CCA). Inspired by the recent phenomenon of the pop up shop, this group of painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, designers, and conceptual artists have created an energetic range of new projects.
At Super Pop-Up Shop you can:
– Test drive prototype kid-size shopping carts—assembled from recycled materials.
– Give a can to the Alameda Food Bank in exchange for an exquisite hand made porcelain cup.
– Learn a new step in a dance-swap, where participants will share their favorite moves.
– Download the latest tracks from hot new dance music sensation Chu Cha Santamaria y Usted!
– Participate in a scavenger hunt through Alameda Towne Centre’s diverse merchants and lushly landscaped grounds!
– Make your own sugar frosted holiday yule log—from a real log!
– Tell stories of your most memorable shopping experiences, from yesterday and today.
– Help tell the tale of the mysterious, mythical creature spotted near the mall’s centerpiece frog fountain.
And many other unique experiences, sights and sounds.
Participating artists include: Zarouhie Abdalian, Alex Beckman, Sofia Cordova, Adeleine Daysor, Jay Dion, Hannah Ireland, Dorathy Lye, Brad Menninga, Rebecca Ora, George Pfau, Alex Vikmanis, and Jana Willinger. The artists worked with CCA faculty members Rebeca Bollinger and Glen Helfand.
